Agree with the above, but have we given any thought to playing him as a striker? I think his movement is reasonably good, he wouldn't have to run as much, has a decent shot and I think plays better when asked to play on instinct and not think too much, as strikers tend to (well) I also think he would do well holding up the ball as he seems to like to turn and play with his back to the opposition anyway.

Punch (& Ward) should be a part of our history now! They have been great servants, but the last couple of months they are lagging behind. Is there a slower full back in PL than Joel Ward?

Too slow, can't head the ball, too weak to hold the ball up, doesn't run about enough/close down/ tackle and he hasn't had a decent shot for a few years.
So no.

I know he is skipper and a good local lad. Unfortunately he is not good enough to start....Best X1 in 4 2 3 1 Hennessey Fosu Mensah Dann Sakho Van Aanholt Milivojevic McArthur Townsend Cabaye Zaha Loftus Cheek play without a target man

The good thing is i think Roy agrees he's not up to being a first XI starter. Yes he started at the weekend but I tihnk that was due to injuries to others.

I don't expect Roy to be picking him when others are fit. Hopefully he also saw Jimmy Mac should be ahead of him as well.

Roy's got him sussed as have we, and hopefully i he wont be starting many matches going forward.
