Why all the negativity towards the players? 16 managers in 7 years albeit in a permanent, temporary, caretaker role! No consistency in the coaching staff Players don't know whether they are coming or going with the different playing styles. Why give Delaney a new contract for a year when he is never getting near the first team? Why not pay Mutch, Sako and Lee off to cancel their contracts and free up THREE valuable squad places? No further forward in ground redevelopment or moving to a new site. Hennessy is the best keeper we have at the moment but this position should have been addressed in the summer. Stop giving him grief and back him. One lazy striker in our first team squad who cost a small fortune. No pressure on him to work harder or keep his place. The chance he missed today was easier to miss - and I am one of his small minority of backers! The full, fit, first team squad should be capable of a finish in the PL between the 8th to 14th positions so who / what is the reason for these problems. It's easy to blame Parish for the current debacle but he and the board should take major ownership of this monumental cock up in my opinion. We have been 'lucky' since they took over. We went up via the play offs and have stayed up with a combination of fighting spirit, top quality fans and managers who know how to keep a team in the division. Progressing has been proven more difficult. The fighting spirit has gone, some of the fans are very fickle and arguing amongst themselves and the football is boring and unproductive ( results over the past 17 months confirm this ) so my questions are.... Why do these managers never want to stay???!!! Who is really to blame? I believe it's the man management and lack of foresight of the hierarchy. We are living for the 'now' rather than the future. Thoughts???

I think the players and Parish get so much stick at the moment because they're the common denominator in all of this. It of course somehow always ends up being someone else's fault with Palace. I've been guilty myself of always making excuses for the board and the players, but not this season. The showing so far has been embarrassing, especially from those above.

I share your pain but on the above: It's not just the places those 3 take up. It's the money they cost and if you're going to pay them off in full you may as well keep them as last resorts. We can't afford to pay off all 3. Maybe one though. Then we could've got a keeper and striker. Mitch was supposed to go to Burton but I think they read my message saying how gutted I was and took it seriously. The strongest 11 hasn't been available. Oh actually it was v Huddersfield without Sakho who was unsigned and injured anyway. If we played 4 at the back from the start we'd be on 4 points minimum, possibly more with that small cushion, confidence and momentum. When the best 11 was available we, well Frank, should've played players in position.

Agree with the OP, mostly. The problem is compounded starting more than a year ago, so in my view, no one person is responsible, but many people are jointly responsible, at different times. it seems that the club is being run by a committee at the moment. A committee that don't know each other. Far better for each aspect of the club has its own manager, and that they focus on nothing else. And that starts with the Chairman. Simple really, but I don't get it either.

Thoughts??? Generally a good post. The negativity towards the players is more than understandable given that they are the people that the fans pay their money to see. Yes they have had a change of managers but they are pro footballers and that does go with the territory. They have to be adaptable and clearly this is one of their problems. At present we don't have a leader on the pitch in affect rudderless. This will hopefully be resolved with the inclusion of Sakho who don't forget captained PSG at 19. There are rumours of player power which, if true probably played a big part in the sacking of FdB. To move on this has to be sorted and quick. This group of players appear divided and similar to when Pardew left and into the first games of Sam's reign. Everyone has to be on "the same page" from the chairman right down to the tea lady so a lot of work has to be done with any dissenters rooted out. Why do so many managers leave? This was your question.....

I believe that there must be an underlying reason why the managers do not want to stay. I know when most of the managers have left they say that it was not to do with their relationship with SP but more to do with what they want - I am not buying this as it's happened too often. It has to be one of two reasons for me 1. because of a lack of investment in the squad / facilities or 2. maybe it really is because of the working relationship they have with SP. Unfortunately we are never going to be told the real reason unless of course an ex manager is brave enough to come out and say it as it is. With regards to rumours of player power, I would be horrified if the club has allowed this to happen. But I fear this is true. We watched all the injured players and non starters walk past us yesterday towards their box in the top corner of the Whitehorse stand. With the exception of Souare, who was very happy to be there and acknowledge the support for him from the fans, the rest seemed decidedly miserable and this includes our new defensive kingpin. My son also noticed that not one of them were 'supporting' the team during the game but a few of them did have a wry smile when Southampton scored. It does not seem like the team spirit is there any more and that is ONE of the factors which has carried us over the line in the last four seasons. With huge games coming up I really fear for us this season. My wish would have been for Big Sam to have stayed for two more years, stabilised us properly and then left. For whatever reason this was not to be. Our failure to stabilise and move forward correctly will cost us eventually - we have flirted with relegation too often - and I fear this MAY be the season we drop. I sincerely hope not!!

Trouble with the Premiership is that you have to live for now AND plan for the future. We are not big enough yet to do that on the scale required. There's not enough quality on the pitch even when we have our fit players back. We're wasting time in transfer windows and money on individuals who add zero value to the progress of the club. Either we don't have enough backroom staff or they don't take the crucial decisions timely enough. SP should not be doing everything but I fear that he is. Mistakes in other seasons are clear to see but nothing seems to have been learned. No basic strategic planning i.e. get 40 points then faff around with team and tactics. We've been incredibly lucky so far in the Premiership but it looks gloomy this season and is of our own doing.
