Just getting back to the point of this thread and the Mirror article, that has to be the most anti-Parish articles I've ever read. Most of it is rumour, some fantasy and contains things to make Parish look foolish (rapping video for one? What possible use is that in the context of the premise of the article i.e. the sacking of FdB). It's a prime example of the media trying to "sell papers" and stir things up amongst the fans, which looking at the petty arguing on this thread, it's succeeded in doing. At the end of the day, are we all disappointed that FdB didn't succeed? Of course we are. Would we want to break not one but two records of being the first premiership club to lose four in a row and sack a manager the quickest? Course we don't, but that's where we are. We can all argue about who was to blame, Parish and the board or FdB and I suspect judging by the comments on here some of you aren't ever going to get each others point of view, but so what? Who gives a t0ss who's right as it won't change the fact that FdB has gone, it won't change the fact that Parish and the board are still in control of the club and it won't change the fact that whether you like it or not, Roy is our manager. So back your club, back your manager and support the team on Saturday.. or don't, your choice.
The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots |

Similar to the other half a dozen players that day, out of position. A fantastic player for us last season has been sh1t for a reason, if you care to look, and aren't put off scrutinising Frank to find it, which is where you will on this one.

Snapperkain, allnof the pundits I heard and read said Frank was wrong for us, or our players to be more precise. Now they say he shouldn't have been sacked, because it's 4 games. When they care to look beyond that they see it was inevitable, that's if they bother or they don't have a different message they've already decided on. I heard Jason Cundy change opinion in 24 hours on live radio. Anyone with a slight interest have seen it was inevitable. Even Jordan didn't stick the boot in on parish and went into what Frank didn't respect, appreciate etc about football, club culture, his approach to football, people, the club, the league, and lots more. That's the problem with so-called pundits, they're motivated only by filling column space and make their opinion either valid or controversial, so they'll change their allegiance quicker than they can type the words "self important". They're only one step up from celebrity gossip journo's in my mind.

I thought Luca was great last season. He was the Jedinak type replacement that we needed at that time. Before you get on your high horse....I am not saying he is rubbish or shouldn't be in the team etc however I think there is starting to be questions asked about his mobility around the pitch this season. That may be due to a disrupted preseason, injuries but for whatever reason he has looked yards off of the pace. Edited by rattus2002 (15 Sep 2017 12.17pm)

Edited by rattus2002 (15 Sep 2017 12.17pm) That's exactly why, plus v Huddersfield he was one of two in the centre so required to cover 80 yards long and 50 wide instead of about 60 long max and 25 wide. Big reasons.

HOL has been full of comments that Damo, Ward and Kelly weren't good enough and should be upgraded but is seems that it was Parish that stopped that from happening. The article is correct and Parish should stick firmly to admin and finance Thanks for confirming this midlands eagle, we can all sleep easy tonight

I do disagree . Well said. With the benefit of hindsight it was a mistake to appoint to De Boer and right to get rid of him when it was clear it was not working. If we'd have given him another six games or whatever to give him a fair chance as some would argue, we could well have found ourselves in an even bigger mess with less time to put it right. As fans we'll never really know what went on behind the scenes, but the facts are: P4 L4 F0 A7. I have been to three out of the four league games so far and the two home performances against teams we should not be losing to were embarrassing. The king is dead - long live the king!

Subbed for Cabaye Well he had a good game for Serbia against Ireland last week & looked exactly like the player we saw last season - and that was despite playing on front of a back 3.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Not a great fan of the mirror but hard to argue with any of the article in truth. "Once Parish had appointed De Boer, he should have helped bring in players quickly (as opposed to Mamadou Sakho in the final hours of the transfer window), assured everyone that turning an Allardyce-coached side into Barca II would take time and appreciated that had star players converted golden chances in Palace’s away games they could now be on four points with no need to panic by reverting back to a defensive-minded coach and offering him a million-quid bonus to keep them up." The above is the nail on the head. That's what proper clubs do - don't panic, stick to the game plan and believe in the end goal. 4 games isn't even enough time to devise a park the bus system let alone in attempting to teach players to dictate the pace of a game, understand when to play the final ball, be patient in possession etc. Parish believing in this instant turnaround shows a complete naivety and really begs the question once again - what on earth did they discuss prior to his appointment? I was as shocked as anyone when Steve went for de Boer and he was never my first choice. We should've been all over Marco Silva in my opinion, someone who seemed to organise a struggling defensive side well whilst still being able to play good & measured football. I was always unsure about Frank but whereas probably most people's doubts started to grow, the more I listened to Franks ideas for the club, his focus on the small details and the more I saw the way he conducted himself, the more I was impressed by him and I think given time we could've really achieved something to be proud of at the club. Regardless of anyone's opinions on the style we should be attempting, back 3s etc. the last thing that any club needs is people in charge who interfere tactically and panic at the first sign of trouble, it's a recipe for footballing disaster with any long-term goal. The whole episode has been a shambles from start to finish and it really hasn't reflected well on Parish or Palace as a whole. He did. Jairo Riedewald who de Boer decided should be a defensive mainstay for the first game against Huddersfield along with another nineteen year old player who joined two days before. Sack the journalist who's stealing a living along with the clueless Dutchman.
