To a degree, yes, but they were on their arses, bankrupt & League 1 at the time. We've got a lot in place but I just feel someone like him, with the backing of our U.S. investors could really move the club forward. He's very candid in the interview which made it more interesting. It would surely at least be worth a conversation. I also heard this interview earlier today and was left feeling exactly the same. I wouldn't say I'm 'incredulous' towards our owners though, there's too much of that about, but Cortese would certainly offer something that we are lacking.

This bloke is a banker who was Executive Chairman at Southampton. His role had nothing to do with the job Freedman has been employed to do, his brief was holding the purse strings. We already have Steve Parish to do that and he has a financial stake in the club; I'd rather keep it that way thanks. Edited by bexleydave (13 Sep 2017 6.36am)

Cortese did a great job but he wasn't the money. Unless we have a take over putting Cortese as CEO he won't be coming to Palace.

I wasn't necessarily thinking CEO or chairman but a behind the scenes role. There's enough to do running an EPL club so there's no reason why someone couldn't be brought in on a fixed term contract for a specific task.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

This week's events have left me incredulous toward CPFC & its internal workings. Mr Cortese was interviewed earlier today & was not against a return to football. Based on what he built at Southampton & their continued development, I van't help thinking that maybe he'd be a good fit for us right now. It seems he was involved in setting up all of the fundamentals - academy, training facilities, scouting (players & staff) & constructing a sound business model for a football club. We could do worse than have a change around at the top IMHO.
