I do think you make some very important points, the trouble with SP is that he is so controlling and autocratic in his people management style. As you rightly say, empowering the people you bring in to the job is very important but you almost get the impression that SP dictates to the manager how he wants them to play and I suspect that is why so many good managers have not been interested in Jobs at CP. Silva went to Watford rather than CP because he could foresee the problems that SP would create with his controlling manner thus not allowing people to use their own creativity and flair. The trouble with working in the small world of PL is that the word soon gets around about the managers and various chairman and their different styles of running a club. What we really need is a good Manager who can get the basics right which in the first instance would be stopping the other teams from scoring so easily against us and then gradually improving the performance season on season with good planning in advance of the types of players we need to acquire for the future wellbeing of the club. Genuine question, where has this come from? Or is it just an assumption?

Its is a bit of both, its was widely report in the press after Silva left Hull that he wanted to get on with his career and that SP had dithered over the appointment and that overall he preferred the VISION of the board at Watford rather than CP. Pulis walked because of lack of team investment and vision, he has now created at WBA one of the best development squads in the PL and has established WBA as a safe PL team. As far as SP management style is concerned that came from a friend of SP who I sat down to dinner with a couple years ago in a Devon yacht club, who said whilst he was a very nice man he did have the controlling management styles which did not go down well with some of his staff. This is somewhat confirmed by the number of Managerial appointments we have had over the 4 and a bit years in PL, staff turnover is always a good indicator of questionable management skills.
