If Campbell was being paid £50,000 a week to come on for the last 10 minutes and run around a lot, it made complete sense to get him off the wage bill. We can now instead pay Ladapo a tenth of that to do exactly the same thing.

Three of which Campbell played in, one of which he was the first choice striker. Ladapo might be worse than Campbell, but that's not really very likely. Bamford probably wasn't a bad option compared to Campbell.

Really wasn't my experience of watching him play. Fair play to Campbell, as he'd spent his entire career around premiership teams - but even when he played as a centre forward his record was s**t. He didn't create chances, goals or score them with any real frequency. Now if you were talking Cameron Jerome (also a Palace forward, on loan, who couldn't score) I'd say, fair enough, he create a lot of chances, could hold the ball up and was perfect for bringing in the midfield. But Campbell, I'd rather have seen Calvin Andrew or Wayne Andrews back. At least they were cheap. Sometimes it comes down to mental discipline to look rubbish. Yes really, with Campbell he never strayed from chasing the ball in hopeless situations, run to the corner flag with 20 minutes to go and stand in front of the keeper at corners. Now we can waste talented and creative RLC in that disciplined position or blood a young 'un up there. Forwards cost the most in this crazy world of transfers for a reason.

Campbell was almost blessed with the ability to strike a ball straight at the keeper.

Some players are gifted enough to keep scoring and being a goal botherer till their mid-30s (Ibramovich for example). Others just lose it much earlier, like their sperm count.
