If Leeds won't match his wages we'll have to effectively knock a chunk off his transfer fee to make up the shortfall for them.

If he's on 55k and Leeds pay say, 20k that's about 35k, which is 3.6m over 3 years (I'm guessing he has left, please correct me if wrong). Of which the implication is either
A) Parish wanted to sell him for ~7m and knocked off ~3.5m to cover his wages
B) More likely, Parish didn't do that and is going to have to give him away as the desired transfer fee is just about enough to cover the shortfall in his wages over the remainder of his contract here.

Still good business to give him away then IMO - we still free up a large chunk of the wage bill.

At the end of the day we are paying the price for our transfer activity in recent seasons.

Mutch is playing surprising well at the moment.
What in training ?
Good luck to him at Leeds where at least he'll get a regular start.
Like he did at Reading. ?
£3m seems fair price to me.
If we got that Parish is better than Dick Turpin.!!

£3 Mill for Mutch ????

The season has started, there is only a week to go before the 'Window' closes and we don't have a settled defence, we have midfielders who are surplus to requirements and seemingly not that interesting to other clubs, have academy players which are not ready and 'Knocking on the door' to the first team we only have 1 recognised striker.

I appreciate we might bolster our squad but to date all we have spent is around £8 Mill on a defender who has hardly stamped his authority at the back and 2 'Loan' players who have limited first team experience.

Exactly this spend to survive motto is costing the club thousands. Look at all our buys in the January market

Pulis:- Hennessy, puncheon (perm) , ince (loan) , dann and Ledley
Pardew:- Zaha (made permanent) Chungy, mutch, ameboi , sanago , adebayor , papa soaure
Big Sam - Luka, Sakho (loan), PVA , Schlupp

I'm not saying these are all bad players but if we consider or aspire to be a top 10 side. They do all their business in August. Every window since promotion, we've been extremely active bring in on average about 5 every window. Is it the case that we don't do enough business in August. I heard Steve parish on 5live mentioning likes to see a couple of games of the season before buying. Is it a genuine ploy to hold money back for January or is it he feels we ready in Aug. The January market is notoriously difficult and more expensive. We should be at a stage now , where we should Only need to spend once a season.

Dann I agree the idea is to sort your squad out in August.
Palace are improving with there transfers since that Holloway window.
Fans like yourself like signings and real of name after name.
The art is to sign players that will contribute to the first 11 eg the Pulis and Sam January windows, plus Pardew with Tomkins,Townsend and Benteke.

Obviously not signing the Mutches and Mandandas.
Easier said than done.

Yup, on paper Mandanda should have been the nuts. Who knew?
