I've witnessed plenty of meltdowns on here before but never one like this after a single game before, it's been outrageous. Dread to think what it will be like if we lose to Liverpool. Depends how we lose. After the 4-0 shambles against Sunderland we lost the next match but were much more competitive and it looked as though a lot of things were getting fixed. We thought things were turning around, and they were. If we lose 2-1 after a hard battle with some bad luck and a t*** ref that'll be one thing. If we make loads of ghastly mistakes, fail to attack them and lose 6-0 that will be quite another matter. Especially if we play the wing backs again and we look as clueless in defence as on Saturday.

I think we can expect to get battered by Liverpool; taking a thumping there won't teach us much. It's the Swansea game which will be the real test - and if things are just as bad as the first game, I expect a re-think from De Boer over the international break. I do wonder if we'll see the first team against Ipswich to have another game to practise the system.

True, but as we all remember from the last few months of Pardew's tenure, you can create chances and score them too - but if you're defensively inept, you won't get any points. I don't think we should be too worried about scoring enough goals, whatever system we play; it's just defensive organisation that concerns me after Saturday. Common Sense 👍

I bet you said that at the beginning of Pardew's losing streak too What's your point? Should we sack every manager who loses a match on the offchance that it becomes a losing streak? I turned on Pardew when it became clear that he was unable to organize a defence and, in my opinion, wasn't training the players properly, by which point he had been afforded over a year in charge and several transfer windows to get the team how he wanted. De Boer has had 90 competitive minutes and there are people calling for his head! Come on, it's absurd.

If we had a more prepared squad, I wouldn't be as concerned but 1 adequate striker . 2 average goalie. A new system but I will support the club through thick and thin.

Same for transfers - who really knows who we're in for, what's going on and how much work is being done in the background.

Here's another reason for optimism: Chelsea were, by their standards, poor early when implementing 3-4-3 last year.
