Now is it me or is that a worrying statement with the season just started.

Andy Johnson Magic, He wears a Magic Hat
When he Sees the match ball, he says he having that
He scores one with left foot, he scores one with his right
And When his playing Brighton, He scores all f***ING Night!

Benteke is spot on.
I don't read too much in to the Huddersfield result apart from the alarming amount of space the man had with the headed goal.
Benteke himself missed a couple of gilt edged chances.
I believe the system can be mastered, but I think the opening day debacle was more down to the players getting tuned to each other's game.
There were three debutants on the field
And the Terriers seemed to have licence to kick lumps out of Wilf.

Rank bad defending of the cross. It was well known that Mounie thrives on crosses.
We had 3 debutants in our starting 11 and they had 4.
And they ran 4.5 miles longer than us.
A very bad day at the office.

The headline isn't an accurate reflection of what's quoted by Benteke in the article.

What's quoted simply echoes what needs to be done by the team.

Erm, as I seem to start all my posts since Saturday - it was bloody Huddersfield at home!

For all the crap we served up of course Benteke and Zaha were going to get a good few chances to score in any system.

The worry is that if a team that pretty much need to convert all their chances to have a chance of winning manage to do so because of 3 mistakes by us, then how many will that lead to in other games?

I'm not even talking about your Man City's or Chelsea's. Tony Pulis would have had a field day playing that system, he probably could have got a 5 or 6 - 0 win with a very averse West Brom side. Terrifying.

It's no different to several player comments we've had before. Better it's said than nothing at all.

It wasn't that well known that Mounie thrives on crosses, the vast majority would have never even heard of him,and if he did fail to score from that opportunity it would have been a howler.
And the way the Terriers dealt with the Zaha threat has out him out of action for at least a month.

I mentioned on HOL before the game that Mounie is strong aerially and thrives on delivery from wide areas.

I know it seems to be a massive case of square pegs in round holes doing this 3-4-3, from what I've read though FDB at Ajax played/managed classic Dutch 4-3-3, this 3-4-3 is Conte's system. He was slated at Inter for trying to play 3 at the back in their first game after two weeks' practice and having never tried it at Ajax - I'm all in favour of 3 at the back these days cos with all teams pressing high and having two Nobby Stiles four is too many defenders BUT FDB is mates with Van Gaal and others, he'd have been given a proper lowdown of football and footballers over here, so surely he can't be such a numpty as to shoehorn an unfamiliar system onto players who aren't able to adapt? But sadly this could be the case - I didn't see the performance on Saturday but it seems like the worst case scenario panned out. When MacClaren was at Twente there's a story that halfway through the first half he was about to leave his dugout to bark at the team to change shape in response to something the opposition had done, he was called back to his seat by his assistant before he could give the orders - the team had already changed shape. FDB should be aware that generally our teams don't possess that level of football intelligence, if he has a masterplan he needs to get a better idea of timescale and how precisely he's going to implement it, maybe he brings in two or three more and it starts to click in a month's time or so, but too much damage results and confidence wise may happen first - I always keep an open mind but we can't put tactical experimentation before getting points - all this 'next level' b*ll*x, it's a worse cliché than 'DNA' - just improve the f*cking team, if you want to play possession football get players in who are more comfortable in possession - improve the team and the next level will look after itself - eventually.

Give that man a doughnut, but most strikers thrive on good delivery especially when there isn't an opposing defender anywhere near them.
But you forgot to mention the fact that they would try to kick lumps out of Wilf at every opportunity.
