Frank literally had everything he could possibly need to get off to a flying start. You cannot compare this brand new season with a full pre-season to what Sam inherited.

When you add on the signings we have made, the preparation Frank has had and the fixture list he has for the start of the season it is disgusting to look clueless and lose 3-0 to bloody Huddersfield at home.

I mean FFS start 3-4-3 against Liverpool at Anfield if you are determined and what to experiment in games we should lose. Just make sure your first game that looks fixed by the FA to give you a dream start ends in a boring 1-0 win.

The thing for me why in this hypothetical situation you'd choose Benitez immediately is the reaction of almost shock and 'oh crap, I have a lot to learn' Frank put out both on the touchline and in interviews after the game.

It shouldn't be a lot to learn that the Premier League is physical. That just because Liverpool have better players, 3 points against Watford at home isn't guaranteed just because they play free-flowing pressing football - they also have a better team and manager than Crystal Palace and couldn't manage it.

How does it take a footballing genius to suss out that Huddersfield are going to be massively up for an opening day upset and confusing our players with a new setup isn't the way to go.

Christ, if we played 4-3-3, it may have been boring, it may have even been hoof ball but if Benteke taps in a header after 6 minutes its virtually game over. You cannot say the same if hypothetically we scored early with our new tactics because you could see the mistakes were just coming and coming.

Benitez would immediately know what to do and has been there done that. He might even continue the progression towards beautiful football but would try and do it in a controlled manner rather than first game of a big Premier League Season - okay this is how we play now.
