With all these recent suggestion of rule changes when are we going to ditch this stupid rule of a yellow for taking off your shirt in celebration.

Add to that the rule that means you get a red card after two non violent yellow card offences. i.e. Shirt off and simulation.
I think the red should. Only be for two violent tackles.

Many may disagree

I agree the powers to be seem to almost bend themselves double to put into place stupid rules (The Pitch can't be cut with any patterns) springs to mind, but on more serious issues they appear to brush under the rug.

So you're happy for teams to just hang on to Wilf all day with no fear that they'll get a second yellow? Or players to just start grabbing the ball out of the air knowing that they won't get a second yellow for deliberate handball?

Persistent fouling shouldn't be allowed just because it's not violent.

We all know the reason why a yellow card was decided to give to a player when their shirt was removed which was that the advertisers were not being shown when a goal scored, this will be the most played part of a match.

The reason I want it to stay as it is with two yellows = red is there is no complication with this. If you change it fans & media will be forever asking why is that player given a red and not that one?

Football is supposed to be an easy game to understand.

Shirt pulling isn't violent but they must be given a yellow card & two yellows get a red.

Simulation has to part of a red cards to be given because of what a player can get from it like a penalty.

Lines on the pitch often help assistant referees make offside decisions, and it's also only a matter of time before someone decides to get some extra sponsorship money by cutting a gigantic Coca Cola into the middle of their pitch or something equally silly.

I think in the case of persistent shirt pulling, one of the staff in the club shop should be allowed to jog onto the pitch to perform a sarcastic presentation of a replica shirt to the offending player.

It doesn't matter how they tweak the rules (I agree that it's nonsense to book a player for removing his shirt in celebration), the refs will find ways not to apply them correctly.

Example: On Saturday, Wilf was breaking free into Huddersfield's half when he was momentarily held back by the already-booked Smith. That tug back meant that a covering challenge was able to be made about 20 yards further up the pitch when Zaha would otherwise have been one-on-one with their goalie.

Now, that's wasn't denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity, but what was obvious was that the covering tackle would not have been made if Wilf hadn't been held back. Moss was right to allow play to develop, but he should at least have sent Smith to the showers for his second yellow, as well as perhaps awarded a free kick at the spot of the foul. Ironically, had Smith pulled off his own shirt, he'd have gone.

Until there is a credible disciplinary process for clear refereeing errors, any rule changes will be interpreted on the fly however the referees feel like.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

I think only giving a red will stop a player going into the crowd 'celebrating'.

An accident waiting to happen IMO.

Agreed. I saw Iggy Pop go into the crowd at a gig once and come back out with no shoes on.

I think simulation in itself deserves a straight red and harsh, very harsh suspensions!
