Am starting a new thread rather than take someone else's off on a tagent.

Does anyone remember palace getting the benefit of a bizarre last minute own goal years ago. It was whitehorse lane end, and one opponent went to boot the ball upfield only to clatter it against his teammate, sending the ball arching up into the top corner. Complete freak of a goal.

Might have been Trevor Francis era. Not sure. I also have a memory that the opponent in question had to borrow our away kit that day, though I might be mixing up memories.

Anyone? Did I dream it all?!

I'm fairly sure one team wore our away kit, around about the Trevor Francis years. I know Barnsley are the latest side to wear our away kit in 2013, but i'm sure there was another team who did it in the early 2000's.

I dont remember the own goal, though.

Grimsby came to Palace but their kit man and kit were held up in traffic miles away. So Palace let them use the reserve kit, which was not washed and was ill-fitting. But it didn't stop Grimsby playing well and winning with ex-Chelsea player Mike Brolly running the show. No own goal though, from what I remember. In fact the whole game is a bit misty water all these years. I actually heard some ex-players talking on the radio about this game. Very wet day, very low crowd

I've got a feeling it was Birmingham who wore our away kit and beat us in it

10/10 for the Birmingham call. Pretty certain it meant the game ended 1-1

Remember it well - 6 Feb 1999. I was in the Arthur in the away end oddly with my blues supporting girlfriend. Birimingham went one up - and basically bossed the game. Last minute, having not created a chance of note all game , I think Clinton chased down a defender who launched the ball against the unfortunate Gary Rowett and the ball arched back fully 30 yards over the keeper- Clinton celebrating like he'd scored. I'll never know to this day how I managed to stop myself laughing surrounded by furious, stunned brummies. A happy moment in an other forgettable campaign - under Coppell at that point I think after venables departure earlier in the season

I was in the Arthur and level with the incident. It was a young player called Evans who was closest to the 2 Brum players and wheeled away to celebrate as if it was his goal.
I remember Furlong collapsing in disbelief in centre circle and a few of our players running over and goading him as he'd cheated to win them a penalty earlier that had caused bad blood between both teams.

Well done and thanks for that. I knew I didn't dream it!
