Was it just because it was a pre season friendly and none of the players were right up for it, or is our new style of play really really boring ! Possession football - YAWN !!!!

There is a very old Simpsons episode where there do a spoof commentary on 'soccer' which took the mickey very well.
I find it tedious to watch at times and found watching Spain win the world cup very boring.
I do believe if I was watching football like that as kid I would not be a fan.
There needs to be a good mix of possession and bursts of explosive action. Barca and Real Madrid are the best exponents of this and they can do it due to the quality of players they have.

Definitely need to pass quicker. We do seem to be passing for the sake of it.

I think the system will get us goals if our front men are on form, I also think it will expose the weak links in the squad very quickly as you need comfort and self belief on the ball to play it and I think a few of our players don't possess one or both of those qualities. That said, as much as I love seeing Wilf or Andros take on the fullback to get a cross in for Benteke to nod home, keeping hold of the ball and making the most of openings would be a welcome addition if we can pull it off.

Must admit the sight early on Saturday of our defenders passing the ball around in front of our goal area was both an unusual and very nervy sight. Several times wished for DD's big hoof in order to steady my nerves,. Having said that at times it looked quite impressive although wouldn't want to see it against a top six EPL team.

I think the new style is great to watch, and the majority of our players will adapt well. Just one issue that I have, Saturday Benteke had two or three clear cut chanches with the ball at his feet. He is not a ball player, great at attacking the ball with his head, but ball player he is not. Will this be a problem, given our limited forwards?

We'll find out how well it works against Huddersfield who I suspect will set up to defend and counter-attack like we traditionally have.
