Yes, people have a lot in common and should work together on housing and so on. The us vs them aspect of politics and the culture in general has gone into overdrive and is pure self indulgence.

Here here. So many things like PPI, Pay day loans, train fares, energy bills and also the fact pay is so low compared to the cost of living.

There needs to be revolution ! Power needs to be restored to the people ! God I sound like Wolfie !

By what mechanisms will the people exercise their power? Also, you say power needs to be 'restored' to the people - when would you say they had it in the past?

I dunno I was just generalising.

But how have we got to a point where a housebuilding companies are now taking advantage of a housing shortage and only intention is to fleece people? And what about renting? extortionate agent fees and Landlords hiking up rents for shoddy properties?

Perhaps better regulation and stiff penalties ?

Whether we, ''the people'', ever had power in the past is a moot point. The fact is that we had far more then than we have today.
The problem with anyone revolting against the revolting fookers who are screwing us ALL is that far too many dumb people believe 'they're doing alright' despite the economical facts of life, and will happily slate anyone/group that is trying to repair the system for the betterment of the masses. Sadly, you (along with many many others) being far worse off than those you have followed should tell you all you need to know, but the penny has never dropped. You never ask 'why are things this bad for everyone, including me and mine'?

That's the shame of it all tbh.

Well, I'll ask you the same questions: By what mechanisms will the people exercise their power? Also, you say power needs to be 'restored' to the people - when would you say they had it in the past?

Got a mate who stupidly bought a masonette in amongst a block of them a few years back. Council decided to replace all the doors and windows and clad the outside, put a new roof on. There were 10 homes in the block so he had to pay 1/10th of the bill and got no say in the matter. Came to thousands and he had to remortgage to pay it. Very hard to find flats that are not leasehold but i am sure there is a rule stopping the lease being ramped right up. But like the above they get you to pay your share of the maintenance costs.

It's not flats that the issue is about... It's house that are leasehold that is the issue.

Major works, which you described above are a standard consideration for all leaseholders in flats. Usually every 5-7 years.
