Maybe this wasn't his intention at all.Maybe just a bit of banter with 'Home' supporters in response to what they had to say ? Could have been just harmless banter with smiles all round ?

Yep, he really came across that way!

I was there and would agree this was by far the worst game i have ever seen us play. We had players on the pitch that Ian hadn't even met !! So proud of my club to see how far we have come in 4 years years. Total football, bring it on !

Not missing much. I went to Crawley vs Palace a few years ago pre-season and we had our first team and all of Holloway's showcase signings. They tonked us 4-0 in one of the worst football matches I've ever seen.

Nigeeeeeeeeeeel, bloody legend!

Great story; wrong thread?

Anyway are you sure the stopwatch was for how long was left to play, or for how long the manager had left in his tenure?

People around him used to ask him the time remaining either in the first half or towards the end of the game or he would just let them know.He used to travel down from Milton Keynes.

I enjoyed the Fulham game last season largely because Craven Cottage is such an attractive stadium and pretty much the only surviving Archibald Leitch ground...

I've always enjoyed going to 'Craven Cottage'.

I have watched games from all 4 sides of the ground.
Remember going there for an evening game against us when Bobby Robson was their manager.Think Malcolm MacDonald scored the only goal.Long time ago - very hazy memory !

As long as everyone going makes a good atmosphere of it singing drumming an f brining the fortress selhurst vibe with them it should still be a fun afternoon out

Take it you have never been to a Palace friendly then?.
Normally very quiet. Not the normal away support.
I find them pretty boring its like watching a training match. Am sure your kids will enjoy themselves but i could think of a lot better places to take them on a Saturday afternoon.

Told this story before, but when they came down to Leylands Park their chairman flounced about moaning at what a tin pot club we were in a loud voice, and how much bigger Dover are as a club. Evidently when Palace played Dover in the FA Cup they must've done the same because he appeared in a local Dover newspaper complaining at Palace acting like the big boys when they came to visit Crabble. I nearly had a fist fight with him as well because he was moaning at the ref about a yellow card not being given for a foul in the first half of the game. He moaned for an hour before I told him the ref was unlikely to change his mind an hour later and he got proper stroppy. Fat little pig. He reminded me of Den Perry from Phoenix Nights.

I get the feeling the way their chairman went on after the cup game there ruined any chance of them getting decent loans from us

the match will be like a snooze-a-thon.

Pre-match drinks to catch-up with friends and perhaps some shopping, will be the highlight(s) of the day

I disengage, I turn the page.
