Never noticed before, Wilbraham's slight move to the near post to provide a bit more space for Zaha. Don't know if that was intentional or just to go to the near post, as you do, and another goes far post/attack ball if it doesn't reach. I did notice the p1ss poor defending by their left back ages ago. Really bad. I bet that video was never analysed. Naughty!

I would be bound to say this being the size I am, but GianFranco Zola wass 5 ft 4 (although admittedly appalling as a coach); OTOH Adebayo Akinfenwa is built like the bog block on one of those French beach campsites and the idea of signing him produced quite reasonable howls of laughter.

You're going to look at certain positions for height and aerial prowess. For example, I always thought that Speroni was a touch short for a keeper, but then he's a great low down shot stopper (IMHO). I'd want my wingers and wingbacks slightly shorter with the strength to out muscle a player. Yannick is a good exception to that rule given he's 6.1. Wilf can get pushed off the ball too easily still, but that is how to defend against him. Other players like Messi or Madonna have that low centre of gravity which aids them in their playing style, so it is not always a bad thing. Height is not reason Joniesta isn't good enough. Daddy is right as height doesn't make a difference if you can't jump or time a header. Benteke is very good at making the run to meet the ball. The delivery is important, but the height of the player crossing the ball isn't.
