Even Keith, our local homeless guy, can spare six quid a month! Granted he doesn't have Netflix, rent etc. Also, since when do homeless people have names? What use do they have for them? I guess they mustn't have been born homeless and it's just a hang up of their affluent past.

I think if your biggest financial worry is whether or not you can afford Netflix, its a first world problem scenario. If you're worrying about the price of Netflix each month, cancel it. And if the minor annoyance of continuing to pay £6 a month for something you're not keen on makes you go round saying you're hurting to death, you ought to audition for a part in Hairspray at the Fairfield Halls.

I'm not knocking anyone that can't afford Netflix. I know a guy that's so poor he had to choose between Netflix and Amazon Prime. It's a sorry situation created by a neglectful government. However, I just thought the reaction was a tad dramatic.

So you can feel less privilege guilt when you're talking to them. I used to know him, years back, when he sold weed out of the Whitley Tavern.

I didn't once say I can't afford it... I said my wife and child watch it so I pay it. I hate the fact it's wasted money. It's rubbish, end of. Don't talk back.

Its about a tenner a month. That's a bargain compared to when I used to buy DVDs. Hell I just rewarched Fargo Season 1 and 2 last week - at a cost effectively of what, 2.50. Netflix is wisely avoiding the 'Big Movies', and getting its claws into the TV series market which is where the demand really is at. Yeah, for the most part, the movies on Netflix are crap. You may find the occasional peanut or, more likely, guilty pleasure, but that's about it. Meanwhile, the ability to watch old shows is great. The wife is halfway through Gilmore Girls (for the second time) and we watched things like The Crown on Netflix too. Many of Netflix' original series are pretty good. I thoroughly enjoyed the Marvel stuff - except for Ironfist on which I bailed during the first episode - with Daredevli being truly excellent. This fight scene from DD is spectacular. It's not cartoonish at all - he beats his opponents until they're unconscious - the editing to make it look contiguous is fantastic and it's just so gritty and real. (You'll have to watch the show to know why he has a gun taped to one hand and a chain to the other - not his choice). [Link] Other offerings like "Making a Murderer" and, now, "The Keepers", are amazing. Plus, I recently watched the BBC's incredible docu-series on Auschwitz and there's a lot more content like this available that I would not get to see otherwise. Netflix is well worth the /month it costs me. Edited by Ray in Houston (07 Jul 2017 5.24pm)
