Barry Norman was an excellent critic, and like Kermode and Cox, he came across as a someone who not only loved film, but truly understood it on so many levels (like Kermode and Cox, their life is film).

Just the best film critic. Since he retired himself from 'Film 20...' it has subsequently never come anywhere close to reaching his marker.Go to Norman for masterclass appreciation of film critique.
