Is censorship by outcomes bad then? If so, why? I'm prepared to be won over because you seem like a bright bloke and I wouldn't pretend to be that smart. (And that's not false modesty).

Up to now I would have thought it a good thing to think: I shouldn't say/do this bad thing because there might be a bad outcome for my employer and, by extension, me.

Is censorship by outcomes bad then?

If its affect upon society is negative then essentially in many cases, yes. My contention is a general one.

Your argument about the effects upon a business of bad promotion has its merits. You made a forthright and sensible argument for practical business sense that deals with the bottom line. Also it's a sensible point that we don't have all the details.

If an employee's actions have a negative affect then their value as an employee becomes more a liability than an asset.

However, for just making a general point... I do think that principles matter and this guy's actions weren't deliberate just ill advised. I argue it required a warning personally.....so I'm having a moan.

We are all seeing businesses cowering to bad press now and I'm reasonably sure that giving 'activists' all this power is a negative for society in general.

You know they will have to put your restraints back on after visiting time.
