That's a good spot. The law would have to read "hand ball on the goal line that prevents a goal from being scored, specifically a ball going over the line, between the goal posts and under the cross bar of the goal."

Sounds like a load of hair brained rules to make the game more punchy and sellable to foreign markets such as USA where they've been trying desperately for decades to crack open that big egg of money, money, money. Surprised one of the rules isn't "make te goals 4 metres wider and 1 metres taller to allow higher scoring" or simply just "get rid of goalkeepers"

It's huge here now. The Premier League is the 800lb gorilla, but the domestic leagues are growing in support (but not quality, unfortunately) while we get regular doses of Bundesliga and La Liga stuff too. This is all in addition, of course, to the raft of futbol from south of the border shown on Spanish language channels. We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

FYI, "soccer" has well-and-truly cracked the USA market. It's huge here now. The Premier League is the 800lb gorilla, but the domestic leagues are growing in support (but not quality, unfortunately) while we get regular doses of Bundesliga and La Liga stuff too.
