If there were any truth in this then Parish should consider his position. I hope it's not true but Jermaine Dafoe going to Bournemouth looks ominous. We broke our transfer record 3 times in the summer.

Come on. You surely don't believe that. Sam is just being discrete He might have been persuaded to stay on different terms and it might be that the job isn't the one he'd like. But if he felt that strongly about staying on his terms it would still be going on now.

Excuse me. He simply decided he didn't want to do this any more and wanted to do something else with his life. That's quite different from the suggestion that there was some kind of bustup going on or that Parish hasn't handled this properly. There was nothing in anything we saw that suggested a row was brewing, or indeed that Allardyce might feel like retiring. On that basis the article that suggested there was going to be a showdown with Allardyce threatening to walk out was indeed bollocks. So he has come back for one swansong and that was to keep us in the Premier League ?

He's made too many comments RE transfer policy, pushing forward, strengthening, needing more from wilf when he signs new contract etc etc. I think it's partly to do with the fact he believes we are still a long way off being a stable premier league team given the absolute lack of depth. I think he was possibly concerned at the fact that we only ever seemed to turn up in the really big games and the performances against City, Burnley and United clearly showed that there were still deep underlying issues in the team, mainly mentally. We really need to go for it in the summer if we want any stability and I think this is where the problem lies between Parish/Sam.

He obviously didn't go into it with that as a plan but all the reports I've seen are to the effect that there hasn't been a showdown or a fight. I think that if he really wanted to stay but purely on his terms he would be fighting for those terms. That he isn't suggests that his heart isn't in it that much. Or else that he and Parish are so far apart There's no point in even discussing it, but I think that would have been apparent before now. Or it could be down to personalities and chemistry. Or his health. Or this, or that. He may have been on the brink of a downer for a while and stayed afloat with in-season adrenaline. I've experienced that myself. I'm pretty sure there's more to this than a disagreement about the budget.
