I was wondering which would be better for us, to recruit a player like Defoe on a free transfer but pay upwards of 100,000 in wages, or pay £20 million for the likes of Iheanacho and pay 50,000 on wages. Personally I would rather go for younger players and hope they develop, but I don't know how the figures stack up. Is it a better risk to have players on shorter contracts so if you are relegated you don't get lumbered with massive wage bills.

The chance of Palace signing iheanacho is 0. I honestly can't see us paying out 20m on a striker especially after last season spending 30+ on Benteke. Also Connor wickham set to come back, so we probably looking at a 3rd choice striker. I personally think we look to the championship for the likes of Kodja or wood.

I was wondering the same thing. Personally I would rather get Iheanacho, but I am not sure how realistic that is anyway. As I said on another post, if Sam can come up with a system that fits Benteke and either or in then it is a good thing to try for. Makes no sense to bring in either to warm the bench.
