The fact that we're in this position, with the side we have, is frankly disgraceful rather than loveable.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

We are a top 10 side not a bottom 4 side we have the best side we have ever had and we find ourselves in the bottom 5 as I've said before worst season ever in my eyes with the squad we have

No wonder it’s called the Palace rollercoaster. I have supported the team for 56 years now and in 29 of them we have either been pushing strongly for promotion or fighting relegation. Fourteen times we have been in the promotion picture and fifteen times we have been involved in the relegation struggle. Sixteen of these occasions has seen us change division – nine upwards and seven downwards.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Palace v Burnley in Division 2. No, not 1979, but (sadly only) 4 years later, in 1982/83. We had to avoid defeat in the final game to stay in Division 2 and send Burnley down. We won 1-0.

I remember that well and was very aware of the irony that we should have been in that situation playing Burnley after meeting them in the final match in very different circumstances only 4 years before. There was still a 20,000 plus crowd there for that game.

In our first season in the top flight back in 1969 1970 we had to beat Man City at home in our last match of the season to stay up. We won them 1-0. So, we haven't always fouled up in these situations.

Another one. 1995 - Palace had to win at Newcastle and hope Villa lost at Norwich. Villa drew, we lost and went down in fourth from bottom place. Edited by Pigglelet (13 May 2017 7.24pm)

The same season as Stockport (2000/01) when we had Portsmouth away in mid-week. Defeat would have meant relegation but we went there and won 4-2 thanks to goals from Forssell, Riihilahti & Freedman (2).
The pyramid to beat all pyramids!! Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in? |
