I know it's a bit late in the season but in the spirit of "Teach a man to fish and he can eat forever" I thought I'd write up a quick guide to streaming matches.

I have found the best way to stream matches is with Acestream it relies on peer2peer sharing so occasionally the less popular matches aren't shared, in those cases I fall back on traditional streaming through a browser with AdblockPlus.

Streaming with Acestream is much safer as you have no popups or dodgy malware, you're running it through atraditional media player on your pc, not through the browser. The quality and reliability is usually far better.

The easiest method involves installing a special version of a free media player called VLC which is an open-source non resource hogging, non-bloated player, in fact it's very good to use as a general media player and many people hail it the best, the official version will happily play Acestream links if you have it already, but the Acestream version is set-up already to do this.

Acestream version can be found here: [Link] VLC (Official Version) can be found here: [Link]

Once installed go here: [Link] choose your match and click on the purple "ACE" box if it's there, if not you'll have to stream through the browser or find another source of Acestream links. When you click the box a popup will appear asking if it's ok to open the link with Acestream player, click yes and the player will open, wait a while and you'll see at the bottom of the player that it is connecting to peers, it can take a few seconds then the stream will start. You can doubleclick for full screen.

Failing that I have found that the soccerstreams reddit is the best place to find browser based links. Always use AdblockPlus extension when visiting the links these sites lead you to.

If mods want to sticky this, I could update this post with peoples more general streaming tips. No disrespect meant to Staffie RIP, his page was where I first learnt to stream footie when I originally moved to France years ago, I'll be forever grateful to him.

RECOMMENDED STREAMERS:

Navixsports (soccerstreams.net)

Disclaimer: I am not affliated with any of these sites, they are just the ones I use personally, I'm bored today and would like to promote a safer alternative for streaming games.

I regularly use soccerstreams.net and due to bandwidth issues (I live in South Africa and we have narrowband!) my preferred streamer is Navixsports on soccerstreams.net. Their streams never buffer and picture quality is decent.

Since I last commented on this I've had fibre installed at home so can use the Acestream and they are absolutely brilliant!

Your tutorial was excellent thanks!
