His come our u23 side are so poor. Had a poor season, lost last week at home to Colchester utd. Surely a premiership team like ours should have a half decent development squad?

Surely our better "development" players are out on loan to lower league clubs

Being a Category 2 academy, Palace play in the Professional U23 Development League 2, which is split into North and South Divisions of 10 clubs in each. Hull, Watford and Palace are the only Premier League teams to have an U23 side in this league. I don’t really know why our U23’s results have been so poor, but I think I have heard that quite often the opposing sides field players that are older, and therefore physically stronger, than our lads.

I've been disappointed that Kaikai hasn't been involved recently. Think he would offer more danger from the bench than Remy or Campbell

Pardew sent so many of the "older" young players on loan the side is usually a mixture of very young i.e. 16 yrs etc and first team squad players.

Its treated as a reserve league by most other clubs and they keep players that are u23 to play right up till they turn 23. The palace method this season has to been to play mostly the u18s in the 23s league and loan out or release anyone older than that. If they are not playing league football at the age of 21 then what's the point? Our team has done excellent this season seeing as it's been smaller and younger than almost every team they have played. It's not about results though, it's about seeing if they can one day be good enough to play for us and there are one or 2 in this current crop that look okay!

Luke Dreher was in the squad on Saturday, and took part in the warm up so a potential player coming through there, admittedly the first since Wilf.
