All a bit cyclical but it is pretty easy to attribute much of the blame to the system. Which was definitely Tory created. And the lite-touch regulation that was in place was fought tooth-and-nail by the Tories whenever Labour did try and implement it.

But they're all thieving ba$tards so it isn't really worth arguing the point too much.

No argument here... but the poster I responded to had ALL of the blame on the Bullingdon Boys.... which I took issue with obviously.

In 2007, after 3 decades of neoliberal economics, the banks told Alistair Darling, the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, that the money had run out and asked him what he was going to do about it. He bailed them out with our money.
The Tories continued to bail them out with our money while introducing 'austerity' and cutting our local and public services to ribbons. The banks continue to pay massive bonuses and lend money to people who can't afford to pay it back while refusing it to potentially profitable new businesses.
The bits of the banks that have been returned to profit have been privatised again with no refund, interest or pecuniary benefit whatsoever to the taxpayers, while the toxic bits remain in public hands.
The government, instead of investing in something better, is papering over the cracks in a desperate effort to hold up a failed economic experiment. Meanwhile we learn that the LIBOR fixing went right up to the Bank of England, so that Barclays were only the tip of the iceberg and those imprisoned were scapegoats near the bottom of the chain.
This is all a matter of public record. Unlike a lot of bad things that happen, it's been on our TV screens and in our newspapers.
So why do I still have people telling me that our problems stem from having too many immigrants?

What do you think would have happened to the economy if the Labour government had not bailed out the banks?

Do you think peoples' jobs, savings, mortgages, would have been unaffected and their material well being unaffected by widespread social breakdown?

The notion of financial armageddon is nothing more than scaremongering put forward by the elite/those who cause the problems to scare the bejezuz out of the blinkered..........and you fall for it time after time.
8yrs on and we're worse off than we were 8yrs ago but the banks profits are once again doing very nicely thankyou. Get it?
Let the b'stards fail, use the money borrowed to look after those affected and completely change the system. It really is that simple but sadly it'll never happen all the while people have their heads stuck up their arses.

The global financial system - the biggest long firm fraud in history. Money conjured out of thin air in the first place suddenly vanishes. Now you see it, now you don't. We, the people, are being robbed blind yet still maintain some blinkered belief that we can vote the corrupt c*nts out every five years, only to be replaced by a new shower of unprincipled bandits.

Politicians of all hues and persuasions are all in on the game. I don't trust any of the f*ckers. It's why I don't vote.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Because you keep banging on about the economy (which you clearly don't understand how it works, but constantly trot out Union soundbites) whereas the rest of us are talking about the problems with our infrastructure and loss of wildlife habitat caused by having too many immigrants.

If you put a strain on things it tends to break down.

Hospitals A&E depts for example.... no amount of government planning could provide the solutions to today's numbers being seen.

The "pesky foreigners" as you call them have been allowed to settle here, so you can't blame them specifically but if you are sensible you will note the effect they are having.

Alternatively, you could have a political agenda and blame everything on the Tories.

If you cut funding things tend to break down
