He is definitely in a catatonic state. However, short bursts of electricity don't seem to be lifting from that.

ECT was proven to have little therapeutic effect on catatonia as far back as the 60s (as its a generally a sub-class of schizophrenia). Although in some rare cases it can be prescribed as a treatment its generally reserved for treatment of clinical depression which does not respond to other approaches.

Although contrary to public opinion, the impact of ECT is minimal, with the only real side effect being memory loss. The greatest risk actually comes from the anaesthesia utilised as part of the treatment - Reports of cognitive impairment from ECT are greatly overstated in popular culture due to the use of ECT in patients who would later undergo psychosurgery such as lobotomies.

Not sure why I'm staying all this other than its 3 minutes of so until my lunch break and it looks like I'm working.

Jamie - do pubs empty when you set foot in them?

The landlords cheer, as the patrons try to drink themselves into oblivion. Strangely, I'm generally not like this in conversation.

This post is good... and I do care, since you ask.

I always thought Obama was going to be a good and effective world leader, but he talked the talk and didn't walk the walk.

In essence he was as effective in negotiating peace as Neville Chamberlain was in 1938.

Putin and Assad clearly have/had no respect for Obama and the USA's stomach for a fight under Obama's presidency and just like Herr Hitler chanced their arm with a chemical weapons strike again because nothing bad happened last time.

Trump has now grabbed the bull by the horns and instead of issuing gutless "threats" like Obama, he has waded in with an attack on a Syrian airfield.

Putin and Assad will now think twice before taking liberties again... and maybe innocent children/babies will not die a horrific death choking on Sarin nerve gas.

Anyone who believes the Russians/Assad were not responsible for the chemical weapons being used and think it was ISIS or some unfortunate accident are deluding themselves.

Trump is the new sheriff in town and he's not keeping his gun in his holster.

Most kind of you the say!

I kind of agree with your post, although you are being a bit harsh on Obama, he got a good deal with Iran if you remember correctly regarding blocking their ability to build a nuclear bomb.

Out of curiosity, would any of our left leaning members be willing to chip in on a solution to the Syrian problem which doesn't involve sticking up for dictators or shouting down Syrian refugees? Cheers.

All ears.

Dont Google 'left leaning members'!

I haven't a scooby about what to do in Syria, or who to believe. The solution depends on where the truth lies...

Some good advice!

Two questions:

1. How do you establish the truth?
2. Will protesting help?

Thanks

Let the Russians keep their naval base and give the Alawites their own nation based on their heartland and Damascus as its capital.

Won't happen but desperate measures are needed.

This is interesting. Would Assad go for this though, assuming he would be the president of said country?

If he didn't agree, how would it be enforced? What kind of state would the left over parts of Syria form?
