Facebook can indeed be even worse for it. If it isn't picture of my mate with his kids or another mate on holiday showing off then Facebook is pretty much not worth it. And I'm not bothered about either of those so basically it's not worth it.*

But yes sensationalism is the right term. And presumably 100 RT or 'mentions' is what some people need to validate their existence so they are willing to post "RT if you think our soldiers are heroes" or "RT if you think all asylum seekers are scroungers".

*I take that back. Facebook is actually really helpful in reminding me when it is someone's birthday so I can wish them a happy birthday in the least intrusive (to me) and laziest way possible.
