Site running mega slow

Anyone else notice the site freezing when opening for quite a while?

Fine on Chrome at work. On Safari at home the site freezes every couple of minutes and I get the MacBook pinwheel which usually means I have to close the site down. Made it pretty much unusable at home. I have a feeling it relates to one of the adverts the site is trying to load. No complaints though, I appreciate why the ads need to be here.
