I should of course have used the Aussie word "Tassie". These Aussies love to truncate words and have their own language really !
I've never been to 'Tassie' in my life.

You have. On more than one occasion. But you'd need an Aussie chick to explain why.

My brother who lives in Tasmania will be marrying an Australian lady he met when they were both dog walking. His daughters and son live in Sydney. My brother-in-law lives north of Sydney on the central coast.I haven't been to Australia since 1998.

I also met my good lady whilst out dogging. It's a wonderfully social activity.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Never had an "Aussie chick" in my life and never ever likely to at my time of life.

When I went to Australia all those years ago I had an image of locals with all that "Wingeing Pom" business and antipathy towards those from these shores.Nothing could be further from the truth - many had relatives who either hailed from the UK or lived here and they were all very warm and friendly.
