I wonder if the older members of HOL can help.
Its been driving me mad for ages now.

Early '80s there was a very fashionable but cheap vintage clothes store off the charing cross rd in London, side road to the right going up charing cross rd heading towards Tottenham court rd.
The clothes were mainly second hand USA garb.
Levi's, army gear, shoes, plus new converse type plimsoles etc.
Was a big unit, warehouse style & rammed full of kit, male & female.
Anybody remember the name?

I used to frequent Flip every Saturday and purchased quite a few clothes in there. I also fitted some 2nd cast iron cinema seats for a company I worked for which were situated by the changing rooms. IIRC a guy called Mr. Woolf owned the 2 stores in London,Charing Cross Road and Kings Road. Ollie's Dad,Ash.

Is Budwalls at the bottom of Croydon Town Centre still going?? (Frith Road I think)

That was a cracking little shop that sold some quality designer clothes.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

For the older HOLers anybody remember 'john lenonard'
on corner of Katherine st.
Had a circular staircase to basement shop.
It then became 'Mr.K' when JL closed down.(70s-80s)

KDOTW Had a Big Afro & wore loon pants back then...
Aah the good old days of finding retro clothes unlike most of the off the peg crap you buy now. I saw a pair of jeans in a store window the other day but what caught my eye more than anything was the price tag 250 bucks for a pair of tattered & Slashed jeans, the sort of thing you would of bought in Oxfam back in the day for pennies & the alterations you would do yourself.
Slightly off kilter Kensington Market that was the place to go back in the day as well !!

20 years ago, I did some occasional work for a lady who had a shop in Bath selling 'vintage' clothes.
No-one knew where she got the clothes from, as it was a closely guarded secret.
Speculation was that it was from charidee shops, or intercepts of Foreign Aid shipments.

Worked a few festivals (Reading and Phoenix) with her and the family where she made a fortune,...especially if it rained and got muddy. She paid everyone in cash.

I disengage, I turn the page.
