Am trying to get extra tickets for family and looks like there are a few in the top corner upstairs in the Holmesdale, on the side nearest the AW. The tickets are all 'restricted view'. Does anyone know how restricted the view actually is? What exactly is it that you cant see from up there??

Pretty sure that if you're in the Upper Tier, the seats at the very end of the stand towards the AW are restricted views because you are above the roof of the AW. Therefore, you can't see the length of the touchline. You can see both goals, penalty areas etc it's just the area around the touchline closest to the AW that the roof blocks off.

Thanks, that's what I guessed it must be. I've loved Selhurst for the thirty five years I've been going there, and always thought its rusty charm was far better than all those bland plastic bowls so many teams have moved to. I still feel that way, but I have to say that so many fans are now unused to old fashioned grounds that I can see us losing out on the next generation if we don't improve the place, particularly given how many restricted view seats we have when most grounds have none. That's a long term plan of course (and subject to another thread on here somewhere) but if the club isn't yet able to redevelop then they need to charge far lower prices for seats inside a football ground from which you cant see all of the football pitch! Best part of 60 notes for a man and his boy to see one goal only when in the AW, and the same price now to sit in the upper tier and hope we mostly attack down the other wing!

I sat there last year and that's pretty much it. You'll miss the odd bit of magic from Wilf on the touch line but you can see it on the big screen if you have good eye sight. You can easily see all of both penalty areas and on balance it's a good view and I'd say it's still better than the AW. Atmosphere is good as well because you're directly above the fanatics but accoustics are such that you can't hear the away fans. Strangely half of block K is restricted and half isn't, I guess restricted' must only apply if you can't see a certain %age of the pitch.

I am sitting up there with my daughter against Watford. As mentioned you to miss out on the touchline by the away fans and any action in the corner but you can just switch to the big screen when that happens. I have attached a PDF for you which shows restricted viewing, scroll to the bottom for the 2 of the Upper Holmesdale.
