I didn't get too excited after Bournemouth as I thought we didn't play well at all but after Saturday I've got a bit of hope back.Good fast movement, midfield supporting attacks and solid at the back and not a hoofball in sight. On another day that would have been 3/4-0 with the blatant pens too.Really can't see what your moaning about.

I am with you we looked more composed. Bournemouth game was very poor quality.

Its not how many chances Boro missed nor how many pens we should have had but our general performance .

Did we play well enough to take the points ?

Yes against Boro I would say 9 times out of ten we take the three points

Bournemouth maybe 50/50

Then again Chelsea and Man U at home were 50/50 games and Swansea I would say we take the points 7 times out of ten .
Its all about maximising your chances and seeing the game out to its deserved conclusion ,something Pardew couldn't do and what SA is working on .

I think it was a step in the right direction, especially in the first half as played with high intensity and pace, seemed to sit too deep second half and would have conceded against a half decent team in my opinion.
People have got carried away with the match saying its Palace at our nest etc
This hype always seems to happen and probably down to the fact that we have been served up dross for over a year at home, so anything marginally better is great. Let's see as one win doesn't change everything as witnessed after the Bournemouth victory when the Sunderland debacle showed us at our worst.

I guess you were the very same that were wetting themselves after the Bournemouth result
Now please remind me how that worked out for us 4 days later

Hmmm
I felt we were better v Bournemouth
Yep good result for sure
BUT
If Boro took their chances they would have won
Also
Very surprised to see Jimmy Mc on the bench , always our most consistent starter

Thoughts ?

If the ref hadn't been so terrible we'd have had 2 pens...

if we had put the ball in the net another 3 times we would have won 4-0!

I hope our team are saving themselves - will happily take twelve 2-0 wins - 4-0 alerts teams to be careful when playing Palace, lots of gentle wins are better.

Our season has been littered with examples of where we our play deserved more than what we got. Saturday is not one of those examples. The first half is the best team performance in ages. Second half we dug in and ground it out.
Middlesbrough were poor and WBA will be a much sterner test at the weekend.
I do not understand why folk continually highlight the negative when there are far more positives to take from the Boro game.

We have managed to make numerous teams who have previously been struggling look like Barca this season and to be fair a lot of last season too, so Boro was a massive improvement. The 2nd half did remind me however of why we made the other teams look good and it was primarily because we sat back and allowed them to come onto us.

Whilst I don't agree with the Pardew all out attack policy, I do think we are a much better team playing on the front foot, so IMO a 0-0 philosophy going into the match with the Baggies would not be a good approach. Scoring first is vital to us as a team at present.
