There are a few reasons this has happened. IMO Parish and Pardew cosying up from January last year risking the def mid issue and then on repeat with the left back issue this Summer which can only be described as 4th tier management are major issues. Fitness, focus and all that another. We ideally needed 8 new players and got 3 outfield players in. I know too many new players can go the other way but FFS, we sold more than we bought in, sat on £20mil+, Pardew probably agreed because it prolongs his tenure as it did at Newcastle and voila, holes here and there to exploit and players not having tight triangles all round the pitch and an utter shambles, confidence shot to pieces and even more difficult to recover with stars unused to this roll your sleeves up and fight peculiar stuff.
