In my humble estimation Shelvey is a much more accomplished player than Puncheon and yes he would be an upgrade on "Punch". Offensively, probably yes. He has quite a few assists for Newcastle despite playing waay down and he opens play with some great "through passing". Movement is worth more than skill in today's football, I'd go with Puncheon

With Shelvey PL sides would close him down and prevent him pinging the ball so it became difficult to play his natural game. Seems to have more space in the Championship.

Far better player than Puncheon. Fairly sure that not a single championship manager would build their squad round him like Benitez has done with Shelvey. The ideal player for the current predicament. Edited by Glazed Over (21 Jan 2017 5.30pm)
