Burnley - Southampton. Burnley looked like us under Pulis. Hard working, fit and never say die. What are we now? In transition?

"Transition"!? Pardew's excuse before the season even started. If it went wrong, as it ultimately did, it would be down to "transition" and not himself.

When Pardew said we were in Transition, what he really meant was clueless and unfit.

It wasn't transition, though, was it? When we broke up at Christmas 2015 we were a decent outfit and as soon as we cane back we were f****** s***e.

Its boggled my mind for a while now, and the reason i kept thinking we were just having bad luck. But i think back and Speroni was winning us points with saves, Dann was winning us points with his head, Bolasie and Zaha would tear up the wings without actually achieving anything, and we all agreed Cabaye was a quality buy. How things change.

I feel pre season in the states was a big factor, the games were shockingly poor - the flights and jet lag affects them, why not get down to basics, training with local teams come and play us. Nope - let's try and get fans out in america.

When Pulis was here the US tour was preceded by the Austrian boot camp and those fitness levels saw us in good stead for the following season, even though Pulis had gone. Our last pre-season just seemed like a bit of a jolly to me.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Our last pre-season just seemed like a bit of a jolly to me. It did, totally - visiting EA sports studios, PR stunts at schools and hospitals - it didn't seem like they meant business, like it would all come naturally on the field. Where as, had we knuckled down, the PR of simply winning games would have been enough out here.

It seemed to go down hill, from the time we did those documentaries for the American audience, which captured the away defeat to villa. Pardew tried to come across as some kind of super coach and sporting Messiah. Obviously started to believe his own hype, and to think he thought he was in line for the England job.
Just when I thought that I was out...........they pull me back in |
