For those who may have missed it in yesterday's Times, he is "not to everybody's tastes with his tattoos marking his achievements", but he is currently "the most successful Englishman in football", and has brought "global pride to the national game". Any disagreements with the second half of that sentence should be addressed to the newspaper's Chief Football Writer, Henry Winter.

Only people who ACTUALLY do something impressive or beyond the pale should be awarded honours, not people who are just doing their job. Woodward, for example, coming forward about abuse in football, that took courage and has set an example to others. Where as someone who blows a whistle for overpaid primadonnas can f**k off.
