Hennessey 8 without him would have been much more very confident when coming for crosses and made some good saves Ward 0 absolutely awful performance. Done nothing that was any good. Was beaten down his side time and time again. Pace has gone and their second goal...Just head it away not up!! Time he is dropped. A great legend for being in the squad that got us up and the first couple of years in the top flight but he is no more than a league 1 player now! Dann 4 failed to organise the defence done nothing of any importance and I am increasingly worried that we will never see the same Scott Dann from the season before last again Tonkin's 5 same as Dann apart from made a couple of important blocks Kelly 1 awful just awful! Same as ward but made a couple of tackles Cabaye 7 didn't do anything wrong comfortable on the ball Flaminia 5 nothing wrong but nothing of great value Puncheon 7 when he had the ball looked to create a chance played ok Townsend 1 Simple.....fu#ck off Zaha 5 tried hard but lost his head Benteke 5 should have scored good hold up play

Hennessey MOTM no other player got close to their best and to beat Arsenal they needed to be. Benteke had another poor game. AT was better second half after a shocker in the first half. Swansea will beat us if we play as bad.

Hennessy did well but I think was slow to get back up for the second and the defence looked absolutely shambolic today, so many missed clearances and mix ups, he has to command his box better, he was coming for crossed and the CBs were clearing them out of his gloves. Saves though make me feel he deserves (7) Ward, played horrifically. Looked completely out of his depth, gave the ball away almost every time he was in possession and made wrong decision after wrong decision. At fault for the second. Tried to head it up and out over the bar rather than away from goal. (2) Dann looks a shadow of himself. Totally bereft of confidence. Not an abysmal showing as there were a couple of clearances at key times, but him and Tomkins were getting mixed up and there were some loose clearances that bounced off other players. We need more from him (5) Tomkins much the same as Dann, stopped it from being a cricket score but there is no leadership or organisation in the back line at all and something needs to give. (5) Kelly. Shocking. How bad must Fruers be that Kelly is still somehow getting in to the team. A couple of times broke down on the counter when Wilf and Punch played him in on the wing. A poor first touch broke down the move and he will be having nightmares of Sanchez running rings around him all game. (2) Flamini was absolutely anonymous I saw absolutely nothing from him apart from a mix up at the back and a poor pass in front of their goal which should have released Wilf in their box for a chance but instead was cut out and they countered and scored from his losing of possession. (4) Andros probably was our most dangerous player. Having looked at some of his stats from the match that seems to be the case. His cross for Benteke should have been put away and he had a couple of digs on target and defended pretty well and dillegently most of the match. ( 6) Wilf had a less successful time until after Lee went off. He ran a lot but it was one of those days when nothing worked. He gave it away too much but he did do a job defending. Was fouled so many times and the usually crap Marriner was true to form and missed most of them. Still wasn't nearly good Enough. (5.5) Yohan was average. Won possession back a couple of times but we were so dominated he didn't get a chance to play. Didn't influence the game. (5) Punch much the same, he slows it down and turns on the ball which means our counters always fade off. He isn't quick enough and was sloppy in possession. (5) Benteke was isolated and wasn't fed. Having said that he had the easiest chance of the match from a great cross from Andros and he needs to start taking those one or two he gets every game, he can't expect 3/4 chances. He didn't put in the effort required but let's hope he was saving himself for Tuesday. (5) SUBS Mutch is absolutely pants. Summed up by a wasted dead ball deliverey. (4) Campbell, full of energetic running. Pressed their tired back line. I feel probably should have started the match but did okay. ( 6) Lee Edited by coulsdoneagle (01 Jan 2017 7.45pm)
