It has to be Kelly, we have absolutely no other choice.

In the Palace News at the bottom of the home page within the daily mail link (yes, I know) it says Palace will welcome back Tomkins after his injury to replace Delaney - that would make me feel better than having Kelly in the middle. Would rather that than Fryers at left back in a makeshift back four?

It doesn't matter who we pick. It's Arsenal. We could play the best Italian defence ever; the best Argentinian midfield ever and the best Brazilian forward line ever and have a 28 year old Peter Schmeical in goal and we would still lose. Edited by Kermit8 (31 Dec 2016 2.23pm)

Some incredible line-ups on here. Puncheon at left-back! Flamini at centre-half! Thank-God you people are not picking the team for real. And you expect us to take your other points seriously on this forum? Says the man with a rather uncomfortable obsession with Murray Puncheon has previously played left back, albeit a long time ago. You may not have noticed but we are pretty much screwed with a severe lack of defensive mind personnel. No Ledley, Jimmy, Delaney, Tomkins or of course Souare. Our stand in LB is likely to be moved to CB so that leaves us with Fryers, who, in my opinion is just not good enough. So yes I would consider having Punch at LB and playing a defensive 442 Of course you haven't said who, out of what few players we do have, you would play or where I tell a lie, you put together a team that includes two players we have been told are out and dropped Punch because he apparently doesn't run with the ball? Makes your comment about being taken seriously even more amusing Edited by Y Ddraig Goch (31 Dec 2016 9.00pm)

Who we sit in front of the back four I think will be even more important than who is in the back four in my opinion. We need to stop Sanchez before he gets to the 18 yard line. We also need to try and stop crosses coming in if Giroud starts as he is immense in the air. If all available I would have Cabaye and Flamini breaking things up with Jimmy Mac being busy in front of them as a free-ranging trouble maker. I would then have Punch on the left and Zaha on the right with Big Ben up top. Zaha will be off soon to AFCON so Townsend can rest his legs ready for taking over his preferred position next weekend. I think the back four picks itself out of necessity if Tomkins isn't fit, unless Sam picks a youngster (which seems unlikely).
