To be fair, sometimes your comments on referees are right and you have more than a point that our Palace fans blame th ref for pretty much everything going wrong. However, surely you can admit the Wickham one was a mistake? I agree Clattenburg isn't as bad as some Palace make him out to be, but he definitely enjoys the spotlight. We're all human, we all make mistakes, as did Clattenburg with the Wickham decision, which you can see in his face he felt anguish at pulling it back too early. Why defend every single decision? Just defend those that are the right dedisions... On the basis that Clattenburg has just admitted he was wrong in an interview (see other thread) we have our answer. As you asked so politely (Unlike some others) I will afford you the respect of an answer which I have already given a few months ago, and this will be my last post on this thread. 1. Wickham wasn't upright following the challenge and how was Clattenburg to know he would get back up and carry on ? It wasn't as though there was a challenge and the ball broke free to one of our players. So I can totally understand why he didn't apply any "Advantage". 2. The other incident came just inside the Man Utd half and it was not as if there was a great deal of daylight between our player and the defender.Accordingly it was impossible to see if there was any clear advantage.Besides it was a long way from goal, it was not as if there was an obvious goal threat so really there was no great advantage to be had by playing "Advantage". I'm afraid that's it from me on this thread - I know this will disappoint those hell-bent on provoking me and making risible allegations about me.
The whole idea of advantage is to allow play to carry on and see if it is beneficial for the team that have been fouled. If it is not then play is brought back to where the incident occurred. In both situations play could and should have been allowed to progress, regardless if Wickham was upright or not he was clearly getting back to his feet ahead of Smalling when he blew and not much daylight between players isn't a valid reason to pull up play. He has admitted himself he made wrong decisions which would be admiral if it wasn't for the reason he's been berated about his inconsistencies by media and fans alike. Whilst I admit it must be hard at the top level to get all decisions correct, his style is so arrogant and, at times, shocking it's laughable that he has got as far as he has. Then again, arguably the most powerful country in the world has elected a clown to lead them so it's probably not that surprising really.

Read any of my posts on Sam Allardyce in the 101 threads that exist and you will see I have major concerns about his integrity. I think I even used the same phrase when describing him. I have certainly said that there is a whiff of corruption. Papers dont go fishing unless they have a good idea they'll catch something.
