Big Sam loves sports science and is big on fitness. One of the criticisms of Pardew is how our fitness levels deteriorated over time. Plus it is likely we will get Sammy Lee as his number two. Quality coach

Agree but we might not see the benefits for a few weeks.

Apparently Big Sam submitted his CV with a dossier on the team in which he identified the side’s questionable fitness and concession of late goals as a substantial area for improvement.

I hope we retain some of that attacking flair and possession football we were playing in 2015. No need to return to the Pulis/ Freedman tactics that they both implemented at the start of their tenures. We're far better than that, just some improved training and defence/ game management is what's required now. He's an upgrade on Pardew, I just hope the plan is more than to just stay in the league.

A very good point here. Our fitness and stamina has not been what it should be and we have suffered too many injuries. I am expecting there to be an improvement in this area. The players get paid well - its time that they are put through paces

Football has changed so much over the past 20 years or so, Two things in particular have had a significant affect. Boots and pitches. Boots are lighter and thinner and fifer no protection. Pitches are harder as are practice pitches which have a lot more impact on the body. Like training on concrete at times. Aerobic fitness, it will be interesting to see, I am not sure that they are quite as unfit as some seen to think

To be fair I think anyone on this forum could have done that, would have cost less in wages and could have been trusted with the petty cash Originally posted by The_postman
