Plus there is still a heavy undercurrent of emotional support wanting him to do well. But the bottom line for me is that we need a manager who gets more than the sum of the player talents out of our squad, rather than one who seems Exactly as per Kember, we need to accept he's the liability, even though his club credentials are honourable, - not go looking for excuses to exonerate him.

Check the injuries. Only Sunderland have more; and no-one has any longer term for key players. Obviously, this isn't the complete answer as players like Dann are behaving uncharacteristically poorly ; and there are surprising selection / substitution / tactical decisions by Pardew. However, being one of the less resourced club [the US money is ring-fenced for infrastructure], this surely must be a factor effecting performance. Indeed, if you see that we are not being stuffed by anyone [save Liverpool], when we look back to this slump it will hopefully be seen as a cocktail of factors including really bad luck with injuries and ref decisions rather than being wholly attributable to the sort of lazy Pardew comments made on innumerable threads on this and other sites.

Appeasement in it's finest form. Our injuries have not been horrific, neither have we been the victim of bad decisions consistently over the last 12 months either (more so than other clubs).

I'd love to see you try and say otherwise to their faces Why would you think that I would not want to express an opinion to someone elses face?i respect peoples right to their opinions and truly do not see myself as a better or worse fan.I dont get to travel to many away games so perhaps in some opinions dont rate that highly.I am really not that concerned. What concerns me is that I do respect Pardew as a manager and fear that some of the criticisms may be based on wining be more important than the style of play.Thats my opinion and as I said earlier i am probably in the minority. But what happened at Newcastle has similarities to us except we are not such a big club as Newcastle so will I guess be limited in who would want to come and replace Pardew.

I get what the OP is saying. He -- I'm presuming he is a he -- is harking back to a different period in football when there was greater loyalty. For him, we should be slower to divide feelings we have about our club from those we hold for the manager. The thread headline is provocative but if he didn't say that, then it would say 'more defending Pardew' and nobody would have bothered. Could it be that loyalty above the norm will one day reward a club of our stature? I doubt it personally. If he took us down but discovered a profound, little-known truth of football management while in tier 2, then yes he might bring us up and even have us outperform, but very quickly he'd be looking at his next move. For Pardew it's about money. I don't begrudge him that either. So loyalty comes with much downside risk and little upside reward for a club of our size. Look at Watford -- they are a huge success story and they chop and change managers every 3 hours. Like I say: it would be a sweet story and I admire the sentiment. But it's not for me, thanks.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
