There was a point when we broke and we were three on two and fluffed it. He could have done a hell of a lot better there. As soon as I read the thread title I thought of this moment. He looked utterly confused, almost scared, dithered and then almost fell over his ludicrously low powered pass. He looked like a sick puppy.
Clinton is Clinton. I have known him for a long time, I know his mother... Simon Jordan |

Whenever Benteke picked up the ball he was so deep he had no one to pass to. I might be wrong but I'm sure at one point we looked like we had the potential to break and he looked ahead and passed to a centre back (might have made that up). Anyway, not sure I can hold him responsible for that. Regardless of the formation Benteke was our only striker and if he's coming back that far to get a sniff of the ball it's because there is nothing bridging the gap from defence to offence (other than a huge number of erratic and desperate hoofs). Benteke did nothing last night, but I don't hold him accountable for it.

Got no crosses to him from the wings again. Every time we tried to play through the middle rather than spread it out wide. Even when we did, we ran into dead ends and didn't get the ball over.
Let's keep the ball this season! |

Has it not occurred to anyone, teams know our strength getting crosses in from the wing to Benteke. Utd worked hard to stop us getting any crosses in. With only Zaha to get crosses in, who they dealt with well, they played Benteke out of the game.

And we didn't keep the ball enough to get many corners. He had the CBs tight to him all game. And Zaha double teamed on the wing when he tried. Nothing was on, which isn't a surprise. I can't believe we have one of the top ten scorers in the Premier League (for a team whose top scorer had 5 last season!) And people complain his movement could be better. Unbelievable.
