I reckon he's about the same level as Alan Pardew. Going by the posts on here so far....

I think he's found out he's stubborn this season, if he's a true great, he'll realise it's a personal weakness he has to work on. Bravo is the key evidence for this. Joe Hart is a solid top keeper (not the best in the league but capable of being in a title winning side). He's adored by City which means a lot and knows the Premier League. He threw all that away because Bravo can supposedly pass a ball under pressure. As it turns out, he can't, it just looked that way because Spanish teams wouldn't press Barcelona's back line. It will be a mixture of buying the right players for his formation - he'll simply have to replace Clichy and Sagna as full-backs but also sticking to what he believes in - John Stones. I really think with the right team around him Stones will flourish and play the football Guardiola wants. If the first game of next season he has Joe Hart as No. 1, new blood at full-back and to everyone's shock John Stones at centerback he will look like a man who has learned from his mistakes but also stayed strong to his convictions. If he insists on Bravo and then buys a Center-back the height of Mascherano though he's an arrogant fool. Joe Hart is massively overrated and it was the right decision to move him on. But Bravo hasn't proved to be the replacement they wanted (although still much better suited to the style of football they wanted to play). He's not an awful keeper just not good enough and his confidence on the ball is tested too much because Man City defenders aren't good enough.

Five years to work out the ins and outs of the league and he'll be prove he is "all that"- the complexity of the league is nothing like Germany or Spain, the football is different, the culture is different and the other teams are (generally) harder to beat. He's clearly a smart guy but he needs time to work out what works. He won't be given that long though. That said, I can't see any team being completely dominant (IE winning consistent league titles) any time soon, nor making any real noise in the Champions League. So it's hard to judge what is successful.

He wants to go and we make a fat profit

Very comfortable on the ball, wants to be able to pass out from the back. If you look at the stats pre-injury we were one of the sides passing most out from the back in the league.

Time and again we see a messianic figure, a blue eyed boy.....who did well elsewhere and is feted as the next big premier league manager................................followed by 'boom tish, another bum'' and consigned to the dustbin of history. guardiola will be no different. anyway, the most over-rated one-trick-pony is Arsene Wenger.....totally predictable and transparent. All the good managers have figured him out by now and he will never ever win the title again. Edited by PalazioVecchio (19 Dec 2016 8.00pm)

judge him over 3 seasons and then make your mind up. He's certainly one of the best and we'll see whether he can impress his footballing philosophy on City and make it work in the Prem and with an English team in European comps by winning silverwear. That is the real measure of success and it's too early to call at this stage.

Guardiola is clearly a highly successful and very skilled manager. However, I love it when him and his Foreign Legion get thumped by a 'lesser' Prem team. Football is a lot about identity, who we are and what we call ourselves. I would honestly sooner be in the position we are in with Pardew as manager than supporting a team of complete mercenaries who have nothing in common with the majority of their fans. I know we've got our mercenaries but we're still identifiably Palace. This isn't some UKIP rant, I'm on the opposite side to that lot. So, Guardiola, great manager but I love it when he loses.
