We're now five points, but more importantly, five teams off of the top half and to get there we need to pick up more points than the teams above us, who we've only taken four points off of, so far (and we've played them all once).

We are also three points and three teams off of the relegation places, who we've only taken three points off of, and we've also played all of them once.

Doesn't sound quite so rosy when some facts are put around the rhetoric does it?

Technically though your own argument is rhetorical as you are basing our ability going forward on previous results (some of which from months ago). Nobody is under any illusions on things being rosy, however things really aren't that bad, we're currently sat 2 positions above last year's Europa qualifiers and 1 position behind the PL champions. These facts are further reason for why I cannot accept the levels of vitriol aimed at Pardew.

What would you suggest we base our assumptions about the likelihood of success on? That we have the worst record of all 92 clubs in the football league this year? Our record in 2016? Our record so far this season? Or would you be happier with August to December 2015 (12 to 16 months ago)? Or perhaps January to May 2015 (19 to 23 months ago)?

There comes a time in every man's life when he has to pull his head out from up his rectum (as warm and comforting as it is) and take a good long hard look at reality. And when you've managed that do please enlighten me as to what 'vitriol' was aimed at Pardew in my post, which was entirely factual.

I know you are not asking me, and I realise it might be not be success, as in winning the league, but I base my assumptions of "success" on the fact that we have a point per game so far. Even with some dodgy games going against us, and some dodgy defending by us. That might be enough to keep us up. That would be enough for me. It is quite normal, as I'm sure you know, for Palace to do things the hard way. But I am not blind to the fact that we are also capable of throwing it all away. If we sack the manager now, do you think we would actually be that much better off? Or is it just that, even though we have solved the scoring problem, you would rather us play like a Pulis team. If results were all that mattered, we could maybe get a defensive only manager, but it still wouldn't be any fun. I'm loving the excitement. I never know what to expect. To me that is far better than 0-0, 1-0, 0-1's.

It's been pretty predictable what to expect score concede that seems to be the emerging pattern & more often than not don't score enough & as for the excitement I dare say if you had cardiac trouble all this would be putting on a strain.

There is only you defending yourself or Inapardew masquerading as Inapickle. It makes the 'When will you admit you're wrong' thread a f***ing joke.

You might appreciate more leg room and parking closer to selhurst in the championship, I don't. Goodnight

..I wouldn't say we're watching s*** every week, ridicules s*** refereeing yes and ridicules s*** individual mistakes by our players yes, but take that away and we have a decent squad that should finish safely and I expect them to do so quite easily in the end, this league is very tight and nobody even up to Watford are safe, teams know we are a bit frail at the back and that encourages them to try their luck whereas against us in previous games they would have been a bit more cautious, yesterday the ref didn't help this image one bit but I can see an improvement...the only real cock up for me was their last goal which should have been dealt with by at least three separate players quite easily, the pen and their good second goal had nothing to do with any mistakes.

It's not predictable at all. Most people predicted a loss to Soton, but we scored 3 and conceded none. You cannot legislate for game-changing ref decisions either. I'm enjoying this season far more than the the first two, and a bit more than the first half of last season. If I have a massive heart attack whilst watching Palace, I will at least die happy.

It is to me maybe not to you. I'm a believer in you make your own luck. Regarding the heart attack I wouldn't 1 at all regardless of what I was doing. Southampton weren't at the races & we somehow managed to find some luck convert the chances it will occasionally happen. I think most people will agree that it needs to be happening a little bit more often than it has been doing through whatever reasons you can't always blame the Ref or injuries or misfortune sometimes you have to control the things you can.
