Lets face it it was rife everywhere. Anywhere there were children there were perverts praying on them, Cub,Scouts,Choir boys,Swimming clubs, football, everywhere and most knew or had their suspicians but did fa about it. Thankfully we live in a society now where most are more likely to be belived by their parents and not given a clump for making stuff up and children are more confident enough to report things like that.

Your not wrong, I was in the cubs and scouts, the scout leader was very over friendly, and thinking back I reckon he was dodgy on the other hand the leader of my cub group was a very attractive female, and to be honest would not have minded if she had popped her hand up my short trousers, mmmmm

There have always been men who prey on young boys. The football world is no different.

Every one will now run around trying to say the right things, but the fact is that until recently, men who preyed on young boys were seen as an embarrassment but little more.
In our new world of modern moral puritanism, we seek to purify our souls by dredging up an unpleasant past and I suppose the plus side is that some of the victims who need it, will gain some sort of closure, but the negative is that some of us have developed this prison pecking order, witch hunt mentality, which is in itself rather ugly.

My personal theory is that much of the abuse is begat from the highly repressed society that Britain was in the years gone by and one that we have hopefully left behind. The perpetrators of abuse are often said to be victims themselves, so it might take some time to rid ourselves of the "disease" and I'm sure there will always be deviant and depraved behavior by a tiny minority. Hopefully society is moving in the right direction now.

Clubs are still trying to sweep it under the carpet though. [Link]

Chelsea were happy to pay off one of their former players as recently as 2015. Now they're launching an enquiry as it's all out in the public domain. They can't get away with claiming it was all decisions made by the previous set-up and should be held accountable for upholding these disgusting secrets.

Surely the great positive is that those who are suffering such abuse today, may feel empowered to speak up and to stop living in fear and shame.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Doesn't make it true.

You sound like an apologist. I don't think it's a 'tiny minority'.

Well, it won't if people sit on their backsides and do nothing.

Well thanks for that appraisal.

Can you read?

I said that I'm sure there will always be deviant and depraved behavior by a tiny minority.

How is that 1. a statement that can be proved, disproved or quantified?
2. An apology?

And since I was just making a personal observation without a pile of supporting data, I'd be interested to know what evidence you have to support your rebuff that you took so much time to write.
