I'm surprised that someone has not suggested trying Tomkins as a defensive midfielder, at least maybe for a few games, until January when we can look again for a long term replacement for Jedinak. Tomkins played as a defensive midfielder early on for West Ham and by all accounts played extremely well. I think in his second season he played there most of the season. Why don't we just have one big shield in front of the back four, play both Tomkins and Ledley and just try to scramble some points together. We have enough good forward players to still attack teams and score the necessary goals, but at least we would have a base to start from and protect our defenders a bit, as their confidence appears to be shot to pieces. Why Pardew signed Flamini and has not even tried to play him there, just in a three sometimes against the top teams to shore it up, i just do not know. He only seems to have one plan; all out open attacking football

Would like to see Tomkins at right back (where he has played) , Dann and Delaney and Ward at left back where Kelly has struggled for a while. Ledley for suspended Cabaye.

We already have too many midfielders, at the expense of defenders and you want to play on eBay out of position? Someone else on here wants DD in midfield. Seriously if either of these two things happen it will prove he's lost the plot.
