Indeed. He had an injury that healed within a couple of months; why Pardew did not choose him then I have no idea, and this would have been just over a year ago. Was all part of AP's plan to out club legends. Clough tried it at Leeds and was quickly outted because of it. We've sat by and warched AP do it. I think you are right about Mandanda coming out and collecting the high balls ... he also use to kick pretty accurately (as I recall) out to the wingers and forward. He's stopped doing that too. .....i always felt Wayne needed a little more time to settle in and never really had Pardews full backing, hence the occasional unconfident performance last season. Replacing Jules was always going to be hard going, but I think he's still capable of being our number 1, especially as there's a question about Steves long term commitment to Palace now..... I love Jules but I having him back between the sticks is a rose tinted gamble.

In my opinion with a better goalkeeper we would not have let in 5. Never been a fan of Hennessey. Up until the first goal Palace were in complete control of the game and really should have been 2 up. I think it was a very cheap free kick to be given away and a poor decision by the ref. These things happen and you then have to defend it. The wall is set up and is very difficult to get the ball up and over the wall from that range. You let the wall do it's job and defend the other side. Not the first time he moves in wrong direction before the kick is taken.

Are our goalkeeper coach & the defensive coach(s) both in agreement / following the same game plan ? Sorry if that's a silly thing to say its just with the amount of foul ups that we have been witnessing it sure dosent look like everyone is in agreement as to how the game should be played (at least at the back)
