Useless, out of his depth, cost us many-a-times already this season. Can't wait for Pape's return.

There is a lot of criticism of kelly, but is it justified, in my opinion it is the midfielders that are causing the problems, great at attacking, at Burnley, puncheons mistakes and terrible corners led to thier goals, cabayes awful crosses put us under pressure, townsends dropped kelly in it yesterday, our midfielders are putting the defence under pressure, sort that out, but going forward they are as good as we have ever had Yes Townsend sold him out, but exactly what was he trying to do to remedy the situation?

Kelly not Exactly pulling up trees but two things to consider. His only meant to be cover He gets zero support from Townsend, who just so happened to shaft him today. We certainly need an upgrade at LB, personally would consider Ledley until January but he his giving his all in tough circumstances ..yes, Townsend did him no favours, but City still had a lot to do to eventually score, that Toure bloke is a flipping tank (reminds me of that quite fast runner who keeps on winning the 100m) how do you stop him? once his mind is made up that's it, but we had three good opportunities to clear this ball and we paid the price, thinking about the game City really really put us under huge pressure during their goals and we just have to accept that yesterday they caused us to make them.

The biggest problem is Kelly's mistakes are caused by his lack of composure with the ball, not from bad defending. Both goals yesterday would have been averted if he was comfortable with the ball in tight situations. In my opinion, he's a patch/squad player. He's the sort of guy who we can have on the bench and know that he'll come on when needed to shore things up, or manage for a couple of weeks to hold down a decent run of form. A couple of months as first choice left back though, and his deficiencies get more and more exposed. I know Townsend is in a bad run of form at the moment, but I'd honestly consider playing him at left back (or even Sako after his 10 minute cameo included looking after Sterling quite well). At the very least, the two of them have the pace to a) get themselves out of trouble if their positioning isn't spot on and b) cover the rest of the back four like Souare does. Both are also able to use the ball well and it gives us another option to supply Benteke/Wickham.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Against everton 6.2/10, only ledley and mandanda performed worse according to whoscored.com Against liverpool 6.4/10, only chung and dann performed worse. Over the whole season kelly's performance has rated at 6.36, only mandanda and chungy out of the regular players have a worse overall score season to date.

Nowhere near good enough. At fault for their first goal and should have prevented the corner for their second. His airshot/miskick in front of the Holmesdale in the first half was embarrassing. Teams are now targeting him which is putting him under even more pressure. He's been subbed quite a few times since his reintroduction to the side. Normally sprints off so quickly as if he appreciates being rescued. Quite a few people on here criticize the decision to move on Murray, Gayle and Jedinak. At the moment I think we're missing Mariappa far more. Good squad player and would have slotted into this defence without letting anybody down.

Also as was mentioned earlier we had plenty of opportunity to recover from his mistake. Also what about the mistakes leading up to Townsend's stitch up? There were several contributing factors. As for Mariappa I said the same at the weekend, given how Pards wants to play he would have been a good back up to keep. That said, I don't think Kelly really deserves all the stick he is getting
