"We were unlucky to get relegated that year. Sacking Pardew would have changed nothing" At this rate it's what you'll hear this time next year....

Since when has the calendar year ever meant anything in English league football. Have things changed and nobody told me? A season runs from August to May and it is what happens in that time that gives us our final position in May! This calendar year stuff is all media tripe and so many people are buying in to it. Just assume the first and second halves of last season were swapped around. We would have all the moaning over with in December and AP would have then been lauded for the teams second half performance. OK we have had an up and down start this season but we are playing better football than previous seasons. Defensively there is a lack of confidence and this is exacerbated by our lack of someone playing the Jedi type role. I have little doubt that by the end of December we will be around 13th or 14th and then have a good plus second half of the season and end up 10th or thereabouts.

There are other jobs where work in carried out in similar discrete parcels. A good example is teaching, carried out over academic years. Would it be acceptable for a teacher, warned for poor performance in the summer term, to have that expunged from the records if there were still performance concerns in the autumn term, just because it was the start of the new academic year? Well, that's what we're being asked to do in respect of Pardew.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |
